On cold winter mornings you can see steam, like smoke, rising from the 40 foot circular opening.  Thus, the early settlers gave this dramatic setting the name Devil's Den.  With year-round crystal clear water at 72 degrees, scuba divers and snorkelers flock to this site to enjoy this sun illuminated underground pool.   Walking through a jasmine wrapped gated entrance and down a flight of concrete and wood stairs into the cavern pool this inverted mushroom shaped pre-historic spring has a 120 foot surface diameter and is a wonderful training site with very little silt and shallow depths that average 45 ft.

Shark tooth hunting techniques such as fanning the sand with your hand or straining the sand using a colander are said to be most effective.
